My name is Colin Lauman. I am originally from Colorado. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Two years ago I was searching for a graduate school in the state of Washington or Colorado. Just before deciding on a school to pursue my master’s degree, I received an email from a previous professor to interview for a position at her school in Yangon, Myanmar. One week later I was teaching health/physical education to middle school children. On July 25th I will go back to Myanmar to start another two-year contract serving as an athletic director as well as teaching some physical education classes in the high school and elementary school. Therefore, my endorsement area focuses on health and physical education. Desire to teach was not automatic for me upon graduation of high school or even undergraduate education. However, after coaching multiple sports and provided with the opportunity to teach abroad, my decision was clear to pursue teaching as a career. Helping students achieve a higher level of learning and applying content I am most interested in fuels me to reach a higher level of pedagogy. The purpose of my blog is to provide resources related to PE/Health and overall student happiness. Lets not just teach the same lesson every year. Teachers should be educating themselves and improving every day! |
